ACC-Koc University Symposium - Istanbul, Turkey
    Adam N. Stulberg

"Energy Security Dilemmas in Eurasia: Russia's Energy Statecraft and the Contours of the Great Game Redux" paper presented at the ACC-Koc University Symposium, "Eurasia in a Shifting Global Context: Building Inter-disciplinary Bridges"; Istanbul, Turkey.

Abstract: The Russia-Georgia war and gas cutoffs to Ukraine/Europe sparked concerns about Russia's resource nationalism. Yet, the debate typically neglects Russia's mixed success with energy coercion and presents a false dichotomy between energy commerce and international security. This paper responds by explicating the market and institutional sources of "energy security dilemmas," and by teasing out the implications for contending "realist" claims and assessment of Russia's assertive energy diplomacy in Eurasia.
