Peter Brecke
Associate Professor
Assistant Dean for Information Technology, Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts
Peter Brecke specializes in computer simulation of social processes for the purpose of forecasting the likely consequences of different policy choices. His current research focuses on the design and implementation of a next-generation social global model that can be used to support society design. One subproject concerns adapting the technology (computer software for agent-based models) used by epidemiologists to simulate the spread of disease for the purpose of simulating the spread of ideas such as attitudes or beliefs through a population. A second subproject is integrating econometric, system dynamics, agent-based, and social theoretical models into a coherent framework that can support the large-scale social global model.
Prof. Brecke worked as a research scientist at the Science Center Berlin for Social Research, a senior staff member at BDM International, and a consultant at the United Nations’ Office for Research and Collection of Information before coming to Georgia Tech.
